Glock slides are not universally interchangeable across generations — a Gen 3 slide won’t drop onto a Gen 4 or Gen 5 frame without modification, and the internals differ as well (single recoil spring on Gen 3, dual recoil spring on Gen 4 and 5, different rear plate styles, and so on).
Before browsing, check your frame for its generation markings, or look at the frame’s texture and features:
- Gen 3 — finger grooves, thumb rest, no accessory rail texture changes
- Gen 4 — dual recoil spring, reversible mag catch, rough grip texture (RTF)
- Gen 5 — no finger grooves, ambidextrous slide stop, nDLC finish, front slide serrations

Complete Slides vs. Stripped Slides

Stripped slides include just the bare slide, channel liner, and sights — no barrel or internals. These are best if you’re already sitting on compatible components, running a custom barrel, or building a slide up piece by piece with upgraded parts.
Don’t Forget Optic Readiness
If you’re planning to run a red dot, look specifically for MOS (Modular Optic System) slides, which come factory-milled for direct optic mounting and typically include a set of mounting plates for common footprints. Standard, non-MOS slides will not accept an optic without aftermarket milling.
